Work, work, work...

I'm on leave until July, but I CANNOT stop thinking about work.  I still check my emails, I talk to my coworkers, I worry about my cases.  How do I stop?  I just can't let it go and relax.  I love my time home with Adaline and I don't know how I'm going to return to work, but I can't seem to let go while I'm home.  Any suggestions from other moms that work outside the home?  Anything would help!

Comparison

I think she has some Tornquist in her, what do you think?  We don't have a straight-on picture of Travis at this age so I can't compare that way, but I do think Adaline has the Walsh chin and cheeks :)

ARW

3 pounds and 3 inches.  That's how much our little girl has grown in 2 months.  Who told her it was okay to grow up?!  And who taught her how to smile?!

Spring Break 2010

We're officially adults.  This spring break we spent most of our time sleeping and cleaning up around the house.   That and a lot of playing with Adaline.  We did venture to Santa Cruz for a few days so Adaline could meet her uncles, two of which were around this time.  We enjoyed a couple of hours at a local coffee shop with Chuck, catching up and soaking in the sun (it was a much needed dose of Vitamin D, who knew we'd get such winter weather in April?)
Later that afternoon, Travis' family watched Adaline while we took an hour for ourselves.  We *had* to pick up our wine club shipment at one of our favorite wineries, Bonny Doon, which is convienently located about a mile from the house.  Their new tasting room is such a treat for the eyes and the pallet. Who knew you could so many different things with wine bottles?

Even though we were on a date sans baby, she was still in our thoughts.

When we returned to the house, Adaline was waiting for us to take her to her first Oyster appetizer experience.  She slept through most of it, but we had a great time!

After that, Jesse came over for dinner and we exhausted ourselves laughing at all the stories that were shared. All in all, we're starting to get the hang of traveling!  Our new family slogan: Have PackNPlay, Will Travel.

*P.S. Yes, we're well aware of the fact that we match.  We have a terrible time with that and we usually catch ourselves before we leave the house, but we didn't pay attention when we were packing this time around, so there you go...matchymatch couple it is.  At least we didn't dress Adaline in blue, too!

Mom's Birthday and Easter 2010

We went up to the cabin to celebrate my mom's birthday this year, which was also Easter weekend.  Even though it was the first weekend in April there was still snow on the ground when we arrived.  Two nights later there was a storm that dumped another 2 feet of snow where the family cabins are.  Made for an interesting drive to work for my parents on Monday...something about a ditch and chains not fitting correctly... :)
Back to my mom's birthday... her actual birthday was on Friday morning so my sister and her kids, Travis, Adaline, and myself took her out for coffee and pastries at Olde Tyme Pastries (the absolute BEST bakery in Turlock).  I kicked myself afterwards, when I realized I didn't bring my camera.  This lack of sleep thing has definitely turned my brain to mush.  We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the coffees and danishes.  The next morning we headed up to the cabin for a bit more time with my mom and dad; even though we live in the same town (ahem...down the street and around the corner) they hardly get to have time with Adaline.  So we spent just over an hour with them- more accurately, they spent just over an hour loving on Adaline (and who wouldn't?!)  We then headed over to Travis' parents' cabin for an early Easter dinner.  This picture didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but I'm posting it anyway; it was Adaline's first Easter and all.

We then rushed home to welcome our friends from afar, Emily, Mark, and their two children, Phoenix and Mason.  They cooked us a FABULOUS meal and we had a great time catching up.  We realized it had been two years since we'd last visited inperson- much, much too long a time.  Tanner and Belle are now officially in love with Mason; he ran them around the yard for at least two hours.  I don't know who enjoyed it more, Mason or the dogs :)  The dogs haven't been getting their usual exercise, but Mason had just endured a five-hour car ride (and when you're 8, that's FOR- EV-ER).
On Sunday, all three of us spent the day in our pjs, recuperating from the exhausting but wonderful weekend.  It was a great weekend, but a lot of activity for us homebodies.  We're already in training for the next holiday weekend :)

Trace and Grandpa's birthdays

I've been trying to get the pics Travis took of Trace and my dad's birthdays on the computer but no luck so far.  Maybe this weekend when Travis is home we'll be more successful.  Anyway, we had a great birthday dinner at my sister's house, celebrating Trace's 2nd (SECOND!! Can you believe it?!) and my dad's 59th birthdays.  My grandparents were there (Grandpa Great and Grandma Great, as Laura calls them~ isn't that the cutest? I think Adaline will have to continue with that title, too.) as well.  They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year, just a few weeks before Adaline's arrival (their 11th great-grandchild).
Anyway, it was Adaline's first appearance at a family function and I wish I could say it went better.  I think she was over-stimulated by all the noise and people- all nine of us :P  We'll do better at our next party, I'm sure.
Anyway, a belated Happy Birthday to my dad and my nephew as well as a Happy Anniversary to my grandparents.

falling behind...

It's been almost a month since I posted last and I can't believe the time has gone by so quickly.  I have had so much fun with Adaline so far.  She's already 6 weeks old and has grown so much.  I have pictures to post, but I have to download them first!  Until then, here's a picture of Adaline at four weeks.  More to come!
