Macs

I'm making the change from a PC to a mac and it's DIFFICULT!  Anybody have any tips to make my transition a little smoother?  Or a favorite website that helped them?  Other than my slow learning curve, the computer is beautiful and light and fun :)

Yard Sale

Travis and I went to dinner last night with my parents in Cold Springs, food was good but company was better.  On our way home, we stopped at a yard sale in Oakdale and bought a 10 records for 3 dollars.  THREE DOLLARS!!!!  Blood, Sweat & Tears, Santana "Inner Secrets,"Bob Dylan "New Morning," "The Graduate Soundtrack," Jimi Hendrix, Kenny Loggins "Keep the Fire," Stevie Wonder "Music of My Mind," two Chicago records, and Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake."  I love everything about records: the feel, the smell, the pops and cracks of the sounds...it all adds to the wonder of music.  Sure I have an iPod and many, many CDs, but I cherish the records my parents and grandparents have handed down.  I can't tell you how many memories I have of my sister, my mom, and I dancing around the house to Air Supply, Simon and Garfunkel, or with my dad it was Aerosmith and The 'Stones.  I still smile when I think about it.

Finally Friday!

Whoo-hoo!  It's Friday :) Friday afternoons are my favorite time of the whole week.  Knowing that after I get all my loose ends tied up I will be able to unwind with a good book gives me the last burst of energy that I need to push through the day.  We're going to a Phil Vassar concert tonight, at the Turlock Community Theatre (the old, old high school auditorium), just a block away from our house.  In November we went saw Clint Black there, and it was great; I'm hoping we have the same experience again tonight.  Back to work for me, hope you all have a great weekend!

Mid-January

Can you believe January is half over?  I thought time would slow down a little now that I'm not in school, but is hasn't...if anything, I think it's going faster!  There are so many things on my to-do list, I don't know where to start.  I keep finding myself in front of the fireplace with a new book or watching old movies on TCM with my knitting.  It's great!  I'm slowly getting the house organized again.  We cleaned out the "office" and took a car load of items to Goodwill.  It feels so good to clear out the clutter, it's like freeing up space in my mind.  Next I'll be moving on to the spare bedroom.  If you don't hear from me again by Monday, call Travis and have him go look for me :P

Polar Bear Boys

I've finally figured out how to work the camera in my new phone!  I took some pictures of Travis and Mac Polar Bear skiing/wake boarding on New Years Day.  They turned out better than I expected :)

My dad's boat is finally up and running again.  Haygo lives!  Well, almost.  Dad was tinkering with it and ended up burning up the starter.  Compared to the other work Dad, Mac, and Travis have done to the boat, a new starter is so very small.  We should be ready for spring!

Visits

Travis and I had a fun-filled, but short weekend.  We started off with a quite Friday night at home; Saturday I spent the morning knitting with one of my oldest friends, then we spent some quality time with our good friends and our godson (who is absolutely adorable!); and Sunday I was able to spend time with another old friend and her family- including her new daughter.  The weekend was fun, but fast.  It was great catching up with you all!  Now that I'm out of school, I hope to be seeing more of everyone :)

Friends

One of our close friends lost his mother today.  If you have a moment, please say a quick prayer for him and his wife.  It has made me stop and think about how short our time here really is.  Why do we spend so much of it worrying that things are just so?  Why don't we spend it together?  Travis and I have  discussed this many times in the past few years as we've experienced losses of family and friends.  We have made a point of spending as much time with our loved ones as we can possibly manage.  We make efforts to keep in touch with all of you because you matter to us.  You have come into our lives and made an impact in some way or another.  In case we don't say it enough, thank you.  Thank you for all that you have brought into our lives, in ways that you probably don't even know.  Thank you.

Ice Skating

While we were in the mountains for the holidays, we went ice skating.  I hadn't been ice skating in years...15, I think!  I had a blast.  I didn't even fall!  Travis seemed to pick it up quickly as well; he said the last time he had been ice skating had been in the late eighties at the lake his grandparents live on in New Jersey- how cool is that?  I think Sara had a good time, too :)
