First Family Hike

We've been able to be fairly active as a family of four...we go for walks, runs, and bike rides as often as we can, and we just recently went for our first hike. Adaline did the short hike with us while Spencer rode in the backpack. It was so neat to to have one child be able to carry her own weight!

There were so many berries and grapes surrounding the trail...

...and buzzards.
a little eerie.

Adaline made a set of binoculars in school the week before our hike- perfect timing!

It was a beautiful

We even saw a few groups of rafters floating by.
It was a great intro hike for Adaline...walk a bit, sit and watch the river for a bit, then walk back. Hopefully she grows to love hiking as much as Travis and I do!

Community Helper Day

One Friday this summer the Turlock Police and Fire Departments had vehicles at the Turlock Farmer's Market. It was such a wonderful way for kids to explore and learn about the service vehicles and their drivers. Our kids climbed all over both the police car and the fire engine.

Spencer is just fearless when it comes to all vehicles. He waves intensely at every big rig, motorcycle, and diesel truck that passes by him. Being able to climb on the fire truck and try on the fire helmet was almost too much for him...he was squealing in delight at every little thing. Isn't it amazing how each child's personality is so unique?

Swim Lessons 2013

This year's swim lessons went MUCH smoother than last year's...thanks in part to Adaline being a year older, having more time in our pool, and the small numbers in her class. Last year there were 5-8 kids, this year...3. The whole two weeks, just three kids. It was great. Adaline received so much time with the instructor that she was comfortable trying all activities.

It's amazing to see how much she's grown in one year. She is such a strong little girl, that I have no doubt she's be swimming with the big kids next year :)
