Spring
I have a love-hate relationship with spring. I love that the light of the day progressively lengthens; I love the reminder of life I see in every new blossom and leaf; I love soaking up the sunshine in a tee-shirt instead of a parka; I love that we hope for rain, instead of grumble about the fog; and lastly, I love that we can eat meals on our patio, overlooking our huge backyard. On the flip side, my allergies protest at the first hint of pollen; I have to clean house more often because the windows are open and dust quickly coats everything; and I dislike the reminder that we do not yet have air conditioning. If you know me, you know that I'm one to usually look on the bright side of things...I'm having trouble with that today as I muddle my way through paper work instead of going for a walk with the dogs. Not to mention, I have a slight fever and a sinus infection ~ yes, spring is here.

First Pass of the Season
Spring had just started and Travis and I already have the Lake Bug. What to do, what to do...I know, we'll go stay a night on the houseboat! It'll be awesome, no one will be up there, the weather is great... (Great idea, Margo!) Hmmmm....Forgot that the nights are FREEZING until mid-June. Sheesh. It was beautiful and pretty, but it was soooo cold and windy! Oh, and the topper, Ragweed is in full bloom. Ragweed and I are NOT on good terms. On the upside, we were able to clean up the houseboat and get it ready for summer use. Travis and I went up Friday night and Mac and my dad came up on Saturday morning. Travis and Mac were both able to try out their new wakeboards. Saturday night we went to Mi Wuk to visit Ed and Linda and had a great time. Only four more days until our next adventure, whatever that may be.

Do you want to know how I know that Travis is still madly in love with me- nine years after we first met? He built me a fence. Yes, a fence. The house to the left of ours is a rental and the renters who just moved out kept odd hours, pulling in and out of the driveway in the middle of the night. I would wake up at least once a week to their old beat-up car's headlights shining into our bedroom. Travis loves me so much that he built a fence around that bedroom window. He did it so skillfully that you don't even realize that the fence is new (a new fence would look so out of place with our 60 year old house). He used recycled boards from the university that his father works at, making the boards at least 10 years old- aged just enough to fit in :) The dogs have already figured out which room is ours and love standing on their hind legs to look in the window at us!

Busy, busy!
I realized I haven't posted much recently...I've just been so busy! I finally finished my first knit project that wasn't a scarf, thanks to Hilary (the knitting queen) who gave me confidence to try. I've posted a picture of it- it's a baby hat, in case you can't tell ;0) Promise not to examine it too closely and keep in mind it was my first attempt. I'm just excited it resembles a hat at all. What's the hat resting on, you ask? It's our new bed! We broke down and forked over the money for a new bed, and I've never slept better. I can't believe we put this off for so long. Thank goodness Travis talked me into it. We go to sleep so early now and wake up early, completely rested. I haven't had that feeling in years!
