A little needy

Poor Tanner- with the new cat around he seemed to need a little more attention than usual.

new addition!

We've added another member to our family.  We haven't named him yet, but he fits in well.  The dogs seem to like him, too.

10 year reunion

Last weekend we attended my 10 year reunion.  I was skeptical about going, but was talked into it by my old friends.  We did have fun!  It was great seeing people that I haven't interacted with since graduation day 1o years ago.  I can't believe so much time has gone by!  I talked to a lot of different people, but I know I didn't get to talk to everyone.  I'll catch up with the rest of you at 20 year reunion :)

Summer Summary

Nothing special going on this weekend-  just trying to enjoy our last few days of vacation.  This summer was incredibly packed!  We started it off with an enjoyable spa getaway in Santa Cruz, drove across the state to the mountains for an outdoor concert and a hike, back across the state for a few days in SF, then a weekend on the houseboat, back to the mountains for a night, and finally to Carson City/Reno for a wedding.  Travis also fit in one more trip to Santa Cruz while I stayed home to start work.  Oh, I also started a new job!  Needless to say, I'm enjoying hanging around the house this weekend ;)

The Secret Posts ;)

8.8.08
The day of good luck in some cultures :)
On Sunday evening we found out that we're expecting a baby in April 2009!  We're so excited!
Not too much is going on yet.  I've already experienced some nausea during the late afternoons, but nothing too bad yet.  Saltines and water seem to do the trick at this point.  I'm still walking the dogs and running short distances.  I'm doing yoga, but much less strenuously than before.  I'm waiting for my just-ordered prenatal yoga and pilates dvds to arrive so I can confidently do the moves that have been approved by experts.
It's so hard not to tell anyone!  I have an appointment on Sept. 10 with the midwife, but we've decided not to tell anyone until Sept. 20.  It's so far away!!!

Wedding Days

We've just returned from Carson City, where I was in my good friend Brighid's wedding.  The ceremony was touching, and Brig was a beautiful bride.  We had a wonderful time hanging out with Brighid, her family, and our friend Katie, who currently lives in Idaho.  We met some new friends and made some great memories.  Congratulations Brighid and Justin!

Houseboating

Travis and I closed the month of July by tagging along with Hayley and Mac and a few of their friends for a long weekend at the lake.  Friday and Saturday were great with a little bit of wakeboarding, tubing, and swimming.  Saturday morning we noticed a layer of smoke over the eastern ridge of the lake.  By nightfall, over 50% of the sky was clouded over, and around 9pm, we could see flames at the top of the ridge.  Sunday was also filled with smoke, so we fished a bit and came home in the early afternoon.  We opened our stack of newspapers to discover the fire we were watching was the Telegraph fire, just outside Yosemite.  As of today, a week later, it is 90% contained.  21 homes were destroyed and more were damaged.  I've added a picture of the smoke layer, as well as a beautiful sunrise (one of the perils of sleeping outside- you wake up EARLY).  Thanks for the great weekend, guys!
